In 2012 two members of anarchistic female band Pussy Riot were sentenced to two years in a Mordovian labor camp for "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred". Russian film collective Gogol’s Wives follow each step of the feminist punk band’s battle against Putin including their first disruptive performances on a trolley bus, shooting a video about transparent elections, a controversial performance in a Red Square cathedral, and footage shot in a jail cell. Support comes from many corners including Madonna who painted the words "Pussy Riot" on her back and wore a balaclava during her Moscow show. The documentary portrays the grim state of present-day Russia, a country starkly divided between conservatism and anarchy. Pussy Riot believes that art has to be free and they're willing to take it to extremes. "Pussycat made a mess in the house," they say, and the house is Russia. The filmmakers do not seek to moralize, they simply edit events and leave viewers to draw their own conclusions.

Great Tenor Performances outbids the famous Three Tenors by putting a dozen tenors (including the big three--Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti) in one compilation. One or two numbers fall short of greatness, but within the limits of what was available to them, the producers live up to the ambitious title. Domingo is particularly well represented with three arias, and Carreras has two. Only one Pavarotti performance is shown, but it's a good one: a youthful Celeste Aida from San Francisco. But the real meat is in the work of the other nine tenors. The muscular Samson of Jon Vickers contrasts with the bel canto delicacy of Mark Ainsley and Max-Rene Cosotti. Vladimir Atlantov as Otello, Giacomo Aragall as Cavaradossi, and Neil Shicoff as Rodolfo in La Bohème show that Domingo is not the sole proprietor of these roles. A pleasing rarity is Roberto Alagna in two excerpts from Verdi's original version of Don Carlos, with a French text.

To celebrate his 85th birthday, Tony Bennett (1926- ) sings with 14 performers for the 2011 CD, "Duets II." Bennett travels to each, they rehearse, and we see a full take. Each singer comments on what it's like to sing with Tony, each signs sheet music with a birthday wish. Sometimes they front Bennett's jazz quartet, sometimes they're backed by an orchestra. Between numbers, the CD's producer Phil Ramone talks to the camera about the nature of duets and Bennett's style. Tony also comments, noting for instance that this is Amy Winehouse's last recorded performance. Jorge Calandrelli arranges the songs. The cinematography includes many close-ups of singers and musicians.

Elvis! Elvis! Elvis! Yes it's the King of Rock & Roll as never seen before in this collection of rare outtakes and negatives from the fabulous MGM vaults. "Elvis: The Lost Performances" includes footage which was filmed for "Elvis: That's the Way It Is" (1970) and "Elvis on Tour" (1972) but was never used in those films. Included are clips of Presely singing such hits as "Teddy Bear," "Heartbreak Hotel," "All Shook Up" and more.

Winwood and Clapton crossed musical paths in 1969 with the formation of Blind Faith, a group that pioneered the fusion of rock and blues into tremendous studio and stage success. Despite critical and popular acclaim, the band was short-lived with only one album and a brief 1969 tour that debuted July 12 at Madison Square Garden and ended August 24 in Hawaii. Since then, Winwood and Clapton have remained friends but have only performed together a few times over the years for an occasional song at a charity event. The 2008 Madison Square Garden shows were the first full Winwood-Clapton concerts in almost 40 years.

This 58 minute DVD video is one of the Dead Kennedy's last ever live concerts, captured on film just months before their breakup in 1984. This 14-song performance at San Francisco's On Broadway catches Jello and company at the height of their punk powers.

The " Do Your Own Thing Live" DVD features includes two UNION concerts: The feature fourteen track live concert was taped on October 21, 2001 at Paladino's in Canoga Park, California and The Shack in Fullerton, California (just before UNION's trip to Argentina). The second segment of the DVD consists of the bonus material. The bonus material opens with a second concert that was filmed at ESP guitars Musicians Institute after NAMM, January 2000.

Rock-and-roller Arnie Haynes returns to his hometown as a hero to the teenagers. However, the mayor and other concerned adults have banned him from performing in his hometown because they consider him and his music a negative influence on the youth. But with the help of disc jockey/publicist Alan Freed and fellow artists (including Bill Haley and the Comets and Little Richard), they hope to convince everyone that rock and roll is not as dangerous as the adults think.

Korn Live: The Encounter is a live release by Korn in 2010 to promote the studio album Korn III: Remember Who You Are. It premiered on Sunday July 11, 2010 on HDNet, and then streamed on the band's Myspace profile. Although a live performance piece, the concert itself has no audience beyond production crew. In July a number of viral videos were released by the band, the first two videos included amateur footage of crop circles and unidentified flying objects, while the second two videos included news footage of the phenomenons identifying its location as Kern County. The Korn logo could also be seen in one of the crop circles. On July 7 the band announced "Korn Live: The Encounter, A Concert for Korn III: Remember Who You Are" a live concert filmed June 24 at the crop circles. The unusual setting for the concert was inspired by Pink Floyd's Live at Pompeii concert.

Prince And The Revolution: Live was the first Prince and the Revolution live concert released on Home Video format. The footage comes from a live broadcast of a Purple Rain Tour concert in Syracuse, on 30 March, 1985. Rock to the sounds of Prince in concert with titles such as "Let's Go Crazy," "Delirious," "1999," "Little Red Corvette," "Take Me With U," "Do Me, Baby," "Irresistible Bitch," "Possessed," "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" and others.

The Grateful Dead perform two live concerts in Oakland and Anaheim in 1987. Featuring the entire sets from both shows, View from the Vault 4 is a must-rent for the legions of Deadheads. Set during WW I, Palmer and Hayden team up as vaudeville artists. Harry Palmer deliberately injures his hand to avoid being drafted to the army. Later, he makes up for this. WW I patriotism for a WW II audience, very sentimental, great musical episodes and songs.
