Description A woman waits for a man at a deserted railroad station somewhere in northern New England. It is the middle of winter. Snow is falling. The two drive to a remote farmhouse. Later two strange children appear at the window, and an old woman summons them away. Isolation, then alienation overcome the couple. The woman has a dream which comes true. She disappears. Nothing is explained. Only footprints remain in the snow that covers the supernatural landscape.

This film is a haunting, weird masterpiece from director Gábor Body, who later committed suicide. Definitely not for everyone though. But if you're into enigmatic experimental / underground films, strange plots and bizarre atmosphere, this is a holy grail. Simply the best Hungarian avantgarde film (or the best Hungarian film ever..., which also includes some of the best Hungarian underground / punk bands of the early eighties. If you can catch it somewhere, don't miss it!! This film really deserves repeated viewings - and it still won't lose its mystery. There hasn't been any DVD releases of 'Kutya eji dala', what a shame.

Giovanna d'Arco al rogo (English: Joan of Arc at the Stake) is a 1954 Italian film directed by Roberto Rossellini and starring his wife Ingrid Bergman, which shows a live performance on December 1953 at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples. The film takes place mostly in a surrealistic fantasy around the time of the execution of Joan of Arc. Joan of Arc, played by Ingrid Bergman, is being burned alive for heresy. In a kind of dream state, she departs from her body and begins to look back upon her life. She begins this journey in a depressed and demoralized state. However, a priest appears to help guide her. First, he shows her those that accused her in the guise of animal characters, in order to show her their true nature. Then, he shows her the good that she has performed for people. In the end, she is proud of what she has done and is ready to face the flames.
